competency during this course or field experience/seminar? When working with students that had different learning abilities and needs, I was able to take the time to listen to their viewpoints, and understand the way they learn. I had the chance to develop this competency especially when working with resource children. Seeing as most of the children came from a francophone background, I was able to connect to my cultural background to communicate with them and to facilitate their learning. What is my current level of mastery? Competency 2 How have I developed this competency during this course or field experience/seminar? Throughout my field experience, I have learnt to use different levels of language based on the grades I was observing. As I spent time with the Kindergarten students, I was able to guide them and encourage them to use proper English vocabulary seeing that many of the students are francophone. When correcting their errors, I realized that I was also helping myself create a proper language that can be used throughout the school. What is my current level of mastery? Advanced Acceptable

Competency 9 How have I developed this competency during this course or field experience/seminar? Throughout the three weeks of student teaching, I was fortunate to participate in several activities that took place outside of the school curriculum. Firstly, I was able to watch the Boys soccer team practice for a tournament they were going to participate in. I also had the opportunity to take part in an anti-bullying program that was given by an outside resource individual. I was able to listen to the childrens ideas and see their contribution to the school on this pertaining issue. Thirdly, my participation in a staff meeting allowed me to connect with different teachers that I did not have the opportunity to work with during class hours. During these weeks, I also had the opportunity to speak to two parents who made me feel as welcoming as all the teachers and staff members. What is my current level of mastery? Acceptable

Professional Identity (11,12)

Competency 11 How have I developed this competency during this course or field experience/seminar? In order to properly develop on this competency, the use of a professional log allowed me to reflect on my practice and make any adjustments the following day. By doing this, I was not caught off guard during classes and I was able to respond quickly to any situation. I was able to also develop this competency by communicating with the different staff members, asking them for advice and input on situations I had noticed throughout the week. What is my current level of mastery? Competency 12 How have I developed this competency during this course or field experience/seminar? Being placed into a Kindergarten class in my last week, I was able to build on competency number 12. I believe a Kindergarten classroom is what allows a student teacher to feel what it is like to have many responsibilities. Seeing as the children are very young, a Kindergarten teacher is responsible for their safety, as well as their early learning and development. I was fortunate to be able to participate in this growing process, and was responsible for a few projects that were ongoing in the classroom. What is my current level of mastery? Thorough Thorough

I have shown thorough to advanced development in the following Professional Competencies developed during this field experience: Professional Competencies: 2, 11, and 12 I would like to improve my skills in the following Professional Competencies developed during this field experience: When developing our Professional Competencies, there is always room for improvement even if you believe you are advanced in that criterion. I would like to focus my improvement on competencies 1, 9, 11, and 12. I will make use of the following strategies for improvement: In order to successfully improve on all competencies, I will continue keeping a professional log. However, I will allow time for reflection, and make sure I come back to the different areas I felt I had difficulties with. When discussing competency 1, I will make sure to inform myself about the schools culture, by asking other administrators rather than only teachers. Also, in order to allow for open-discussions in classrooms, I will develop questions beforehand that can be addressed to students.
