The History of Photography


A timeline of brief history in photographyAncient Times- In ancient times, camera obscuras were used to form images on walls in darkened rooms 1727 -Professor J Schulze accidentally discovers the first photosensitive compound by mixing chalk, silver and nitric acid. 1826 - French Inventor, Joseph Nicephore Niepce captures the first permanent image, one of the countryside. 1861 - Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell creates the first colored image by using 3 colored filters. 1880 - The first photograph to appear in a newspaper is published in the New York Graphic daily news. Into the 20th Century** Did you know that the turn of the century, cameras cost about $1??! 1927-General Electric creates the first flash bulb. Individual and disposable bulbs that they were meant to only be used once. 1963- Polaroid introduces the instant image camera, which becomes a huge success on the market. 1975- Digital Age Steven Sasson, an engineer at Kodak, invents and builds the first digital camera. 1997- Philippe Kahn is credited with creating the first camera phone, taking the first picture of his newborn daughter. 2011- The GigaPixel camera is created and can take pictures with 13 billion pixels!!! Tools/Techniques/Tips
Tools:
-Film cameras -Pinhole cameras -Disposable cameras -Point & shoot digital cameras -DSLR (digital single lens reflex )** your big fancy cameras basically -Iphone or some other smart phone -Computer -Editing software or online programs

Techniques:
-framing a photograph -lighting -composition -rule of thirds -natural texture & lines -point of view(s) -editing

Tips:
*make sure your camera/device is charged. *bring an extra memory card with you. *do not be afraid to take LOTS of photosthe beauty of digital photos is you can always erase them. *challenge yourself to think outside the box and be creative with whatever youre taking photos of. *if taking photos of other people, ask them questions to make them feel comfortable, be yourself and try not to pose them too much. *make sure the sun is to your back when shooting outside..unless you want to shoot silhouettes.

*find your nicheyou may like taking pictures of only people, only animals, objects, landscapeswhat type of picture is your favorite to shoot!? *push yourself to create unique photos that tell a storywho knows, one may help change the world? *last but not least.RELAX and have FUN! There is no absolute wrong way to take a photobeauty is in the eye of the beholder. One very last piece of advice is, try not to get so caught up in capturing the perfect photo that you forget to enjoy the moment !--Ive been guilty for that.
