Explanation of: The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe. Short Story. Detroit: Gale 2000, Cengage Learning. Full Text. We start to see the true intentions of Montresor towards Fortunato in this source. It explains the reason why Montresor wants revenge on Fortunato. In the story Montresor starts off by saying The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge. In the story it really doesnt go into much detail on what Montresor did to Fortunato for him to seek revenge, but it does show you how clever Fortunato was to seek revenge. This source might just be my most favorite one. Going into the mind of the characters and deciphering their plot is what this source is all about. It goes into Montresors head breaking down his evil plot step by step. Fortunato not suspecting a thing, since he is all caught up in his pride and drunkenness, he has no idea Montresor is coming for revenge. This source is going to help me on the project by helping me understand whats truly going with the characters true intention.
