Overview & Purpose The purpose of this lecture is to be able to understand what it takes to be a new teacher. There are both positives and negatives. You will be learning about both of them and deciding if you have what it takes to be a new teacher.

Objectives

What is Socialization and when does it occur? What are some explanations of how children are socialized? Know Microsystems, Mesosystems, Exosystems & Macrosystems What are some social trends affecting our children today?

Brief Description:

In Chapter 1, I want you to be able to understand how children affect their own developmental outcomes. I want you to understand how important socialization can be for a childs future. I also want you to understand how socializing and chang e can be a challenge. Discover how parents use socialization and how a teacher uses socialization.

Anticipatory Set: Input:

In Chapter 1 we are focusing on socialization and child development. We will be covering pages 5-16 (15 minutes) in this lesson. There are a lot of definitions to look for and be aware of as well as learning about the differences between teacher/parent socialization. In today's lesson we will be looking at socialization and child development. We will focus on how childrens futures are related to socialization. Be prepared to take notes. Take time to read Chapter 1 by yourself and time to review online lecture. Have Chapter 1 open, Page 5. In closure, I want a few paragraphs, 100-200 words explaining to me why you think Socialization plays such a big role in a childs life. Give me a few examples of how a teacher would socialize with a student.
