August 2014 Dear Community, The United Way Of Columbia County is an organization of community volunteers that leads, inspires and mobilizes volunteers and contributors to help provide solutions to essential health and human service issues and improve the quality of life for the people of Columbia County. United Way recruits people and organizations from all the community who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done. The United Way provides their services to these 15 agencies in the Columbia County region: Camp Victory, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Columbia-Montour Boy Scouts Association, Bloomsburg Red Cross, Salvation Army, EOS Therapeutic Riding Center, Bloomsburg Public Library, Orangeville Public Library, Northern Columbia County and Cultural Center, Womens Center, The Childrens Museum, Girl Scouts, Columbia Child Development, Columbia- Montour Family Health and Bloomsburg YMCA.

Alison Moore, a junior at Central Columbia High School, has developed into an inspiring young leader. Her diligent work ethic has allowed her to reach the highest attainable level in Girl Scouts -Ambassador. As an Ambassador, Alison is on the path to achieving an award that few girls her age earn. The Gold Award is the most prestigious award a Girl Scout can achieve and only Ambassadors are allowed the opportunity to achieve the Gold Award before they reach 18. Alison Moore will soon be joining this elite group of girls. To achieve the Gold Award, Alison chose to share her love for music through a project entitled, Music To Your Ears. Alison was interested in exposing children at St. Columbas to musical instruments. She worked with the Music Department at Central Columbia to gather instruments, and brought these resources to St. Columbas where they were shared with the students, hoping to instill in them her love of music.
