PROBLEM 2
A conical surface is generated by revolving a straight line between two points A (2, 0,
0) and B (1, 2, 0) about the Y-axis by 180 degrees.
1) Derive a parametric equation of the conical surface. Assume that parameter u
moves a point along a circle on a plane perpendicular to the Y-axis as it varies
from 0 to 1 and that parameter v changes the height of the circle in the Y-direction
as it varies from 0 to 1.

PROBLEM 3
Represent the conical surface shown in the following figure as a ruled surface.
1) Derive P1(s) and P2(s) so that each represents the entire circle as s varies from 0 to
1.
2) Represent the conical surface by r(s, t), which blends P1(s) and P2(s) linearly.
Assume that t also varies from 0 to 1.
3) Substitute t 0.5 into the surface r ( s, t ) and explain what it represents.

PROBLEM 4
A B-spline surface S u, v is designed with a 3 by 3 control polyhedron. The control
points are given as P0,0 0,0,0 , P1,0 1,0,0 , P2,0 2,0,0 , P0,1 0,1,0 ,

P1,1 1,1,1 , P2,1 2,1,0 , P0,2 0, 2,0 , P1,2 1, 2,0 , P2,2 2, 2,0 .

Suppose

the orders of the base functions of u and v are both 3 and the knot vector

0,0,0,1,1,1 is

used for the base functions of u and v. Derive the equation of this

B-spline surface and find the coordinates of point S 0.1, 0.8 .
