Honorio Gonzalez EDU 536 Learning and Teaching a Second Language Reflection on SLOs The two SLOs that

I have learned and met are the SLOs 3 and 4. SLO 3: Employ leadership practices to optimize educational and institutional outcomes. The leadership practices that I will be able to implement will be tied to the language teaching methodology that I use in Japan. Sections 1 and 2 of my project have allowed me to be prepared to implement this. I have done mini lessons that have me the knowledge to prepare lessons that I would be able to use in my future classes. From those mini lessons, I learned several languages teaching methodologies that I can use for teaching English overseas. The SIOP model would be one such methodology that in unison with servant leadership would help me achieve the leadership practices that I would want to implement. The SIOP model would allow me to prepare and learn to teach in a more efficient way, which in turn would allow me to dedicate more time to teach my future students in a servant leadership capacity since I would be dedicated to helping the students improve their English and grow as a community and individually. Furthermore, making sure the students are aware of their progress would be one practice that would help them achieve their educational goals and also institutional outcomes. The students would know in what areas they would need to improve in and I would therefore help them improve their language acquisition skills with different teaching strategies. Visual scaffolding would be a simple and efficient way that the students can improve their language acquisition skills. They would just respond to the images that I showed them and improve their language skills and understand the concepts of the picture in terms of language use. Mental imaging is another concept that would help with the improvement of the learner. It would allow the students to understand the concepts of pictures by make a mental image in their mind. Again, it is an effective strategy to teach to ELL students that need help improving their language skills. SLO 4: Articulate worldview and perspectives for enhancing students learning. Servant leadership is what I would try to implement to the best of my capacity with the students. Dedication to improving the needs of learning English and development of excellent language skills is what how I would implement this type of leadership. Furthermore, the commitment I would show to the growth of the class as a community ELL students would be one of its emblems. This would also go in hand with being committed to the growth of the individual. By teaching effectively and making sure that both the individual needs of the students and class as a whole are met, this would show the effect of servant leadership in the classroom environment. Servant leadership is a leadership method that I would use because it would allow me to connect with the students more individually. Getting the students to trust me would be one of the things that servant leadership strives more. I would have to show vision for the students, which I would then share with them. This would encourage them to pursue their educational goals even more and want to improve more. After all, this is what God call us to do, to be someone how is not ashamed and can handle the word of truth correctly. 2nd Timothy 2:15 states, Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth (NIV).

This is how I learned and met this SLOs that will be useful to my future overseas journey.
