One Computer, One Projector

Grade: 1st Lesson: Phoneme Isolation Subject: Language Arts Objective: Students will learn to isolate beginning and ending sounds of words. Materials: Computer Projector PowerPoint o First slides should explain what a beginning and ending sound is o Slides alternating with full word, bolding the beginning and ending sounds Paper Pencils Procedure: Have a PowerPoint ready for the class. Students should all have a paper and pencil Show the PowerPoint on the projector Explain what isolating sounds is Have students write down what they think the beginning/ending sound of the word is (repeat for each word) Walk around the classroom to see what students are writing down Allow students to ask questions throughout Tell them the answer after you see everyone has written something down NETS S Standard: 1.
