I will be graduating in May, 2014 with a Bachelors Degree in English Education from Montana State University. I recently finished my student teaching experience at Bozeman High School, and Im eager to continue growing in such an amazing school environment. I am a hard worker dedicated to becoming a talented teacher, adept at connecting with students in order to help them learn and grow. My student teaching experience in an American Studies course at Bozeman High School helped me develop several valuable teaching skills. Co-teaching with a history teacher and two cooperating teachers taught me the skills necessary for strong collaboration. We constantly discussed lesson plans, best practices, and reflected with one another in order to grow and improve. Working with fifty students per period also taught me strong classroom management skills, differentiation for a variety of students, and how to best relate to students in order to engage them in learning. Due to the completion of both my practicum and student teaching experience at Bozeman High, there is no doubt in my mind that I would love to work at this high school. I love the collaborative atmosphere amongst colleagues. I participated in a PIR day activity where teachers from across curriculums worked together to develop ideas for implementing writing in all classes in order to meet Common Core Standards; I was impressed to see such collaboration amongst a multitude of content areas. I am also excited about Bozeman Highs implementation of Common Core Standards and technology. I could help with this implementation, as I have experience administering the Smarter Balance Test for juniors, and I am eager to help students achieve on this new test.
