Part 2: Communication Plan Item Authors Response

Childcare or classroom communication plan.

The childcare/classroom communication plan is centered on Classroom Community. It is important for the classroom to feel and behave like the community that it is from children, families, and staff. The communication will consist of a monthly calendar of the lesson plant that is both posted in the classroom and given to each family. The current weeks plan of activities will also be posted in class. A bimonthly newsletter will be mailed to the homes. And handwritten notes, email, telephone calls, and appointments will always be an option to keep communication and collaboration the basis of the classroom community goal. We will work together to align developmental goals for the best interest of each child.

Strategies you will use to support and empower the families.

I will use a number of strategies to support and empower the families. The core of all are based in communication and collaboration. The first and most important to make known are supporting all kinds of families and fostering an anti-bias, inclusive learning community. The identity of the family unit and its members is an important celebration and understanding to share. Involving anti-bias and inclusion from the beginning will ensure the patience and curiosity to share, learn, and accept one another. I think its instrumental to be proactive and incorporate the R.E.R.U.N. (Reflect, Explain, Reason, Understand, and Negotiate) method. Its an approach and state of mind that perpetuates communication, collaboration, and trust. An important meeting to have is developing a holiday policy that aligns with the class, center, and families views/beliefs before the holidays approach. This is a delicate subject and must be as mindfully and respectfully approached as the lesson planning. Providing classroom mixers is also

a productive and stress-free way to get families to explore and feel free to involve themselves in the classroom and with the lessons.

Strategies you will use to identify and utilize family strengths and their contributions to the teaching and learning process.

I will use multiple strategies to identify and utilize family strengths and their contributions to the teaching and learning process. Communication will be essential to engage classroom and community. Strategies for learning about physical differences and similarities. Fostering critical thinking and respectful relationships. Foster nonclassist interactions using persona dolls. Strategies to promote knowledge and appreciation of everyones contributions.

Strategies you will use to share information about the child/ classroom with families.

I will use multiple strategies that are used to share information about the child/classroom with families. A vital strategy is supporting home language. This supports communication and trust for the best interest of the child. A monthly calendar will detail the lesson plans. A weekly schedule will adhere the routine, time table, and activities. A bimonthly newsletter will keep parents informed of accomplishments and upcoming lessons and Classroom Community news. Family conferences are important to keep the communication open and to assert that each child is individual and keeping with their individual learning goals and the classroom achievements. An open door to the families will invite their curiosity and increase the chance of their participation.

Strategies you will use to engage and involve families within the context of the classroom and school.

I will use multiple strategies to engage and involve families within the context of the classroom and school. Make cultural sameness and differences real. Strategy for exploring economic class and fairness. Searching about abilities and disabilities. Culture/home share will inspire curiosity about the culture in our individual homes like food, language, holidays, customs, etc Family presentations will perpetuate diversity and unity. The open door to families could lead to weekly participation in lessons or volunteer in the class or center. Festivals created and ran by the Class Community would inspire pride in their community.
