Monday Short Story Elements: Concept Development Introduction to the Unit.

Students will learn the components of short stories before they begin to read.

Tuesday Reading Short Stories: Collaborative Learning Read story in class to ensure all students have an understanding of the text.

Wednesday Edgar Allan Poes Biography: Direct Instruction After reading the story, students will learn about Poe so they can trace themes in his writing. Further analysis of rhetorical strategies in the text.

Thursday Cask of Amontillado Webquest:Multi media Inquiry Students are familiar with story and will analyze vocab in order to find deeper meaning.

Friday Reliable Narrators: Socratic Seminar Students have spent 3 days on story; they should be able to analyze. Seminar forces students to think critically and apply literature to their lives.
