1. Title of trip- Blooms and Berries Farm Market ($5.50 per person) 2. Standard 2- Observe, measure, record and recognize patterns and ask questions about features of weather. (2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.2.3, 2.2.4, 2.2.5, 2.2.6) Standard 3- Changes in plants and animals throughout their life cycles-including details of their body plan, structure and timing of growth, reproduction and death. (2.3.1) 3. The students will be taken on a hayride tour of the farm where they will have the opportunity to pick out a small pumpkin. They will also visit and learn about the different animals on the farm, as well as learn about the different plants and how they benefit the farm. They will have time to play in the farm-themed play area. The students will learn about the seasonal changes that the farm must go through and what must be done in order to keep the farm running and the animals safe and happy. 4. Transportation- The students will be arriving at the farm on a school bus. We will leave the school at 9am. This gives the students time to arrive at school, review rules and

regulations, and discuss behavior expected. We will arrive at the farm around 10am. The farm tour and lessons learned throughout will take approximately 2 hours. 5. The students will be provided with a snack at the farm during the tour. We will leave the farm around 12pm and head to McDonalds. McDonalds is about a mile from the farm. The students will then be seated accordingly and the chaperones will bring the meal that they pre-ordered to their table. Once the students have ate we will head back to the school. We are expecting to arrive back no later than 1:30-2:00. This gives us plenty of time to settle down and review what we have learned on our trip before the students go home. 6. Chaperones- We will have a total of 3 chaperones. This makes it possible to make 4 groups of 5 students, including the teacher. The chaperones will be included in the price of the trip, which costs only $5.50 per person. All chaperones will be required to bring/buy their lunch the day of the trip. 7. Desired outcome of trip/follow-up activity- The desired outcome of this trip is for the students to learn more about how animals adapt to their environments while going through seasonal changes. They will learn about the life cycles of plants and how plants help to feed animals and keep the farm running. Follow up activities will include weather observations in which the students will record and analyze information, and then put it into a chart or graph. They will then take that information and incorporate it further on how it affects animals. 8. Safety/medication- Each chaperone will be equipped with a fanny pack which includes various safety items such as band aids, bee sting remedy, etc. The chaperones will also exchange phone numbers with one another in case of an emergency.
