Reading 1a: The Spirituality Revolution: The Emergence of Contemporary Spirituality (Responses for Reading 1a (Tacey)) Submitted by:

13020806 We are finding hope when we have no hope. Especially we find it when hopelessness is emerging over our thoughts. It is true that the spiritual revolution in Western and Eastern societies is emerging as the result of people cannot find meaning and hope upon the politics. Most of the time, we find hope in politics, materials, things, power, and position. When everything turns unexpected, we then come to find the real hope. The spiritual revolution has emerged into the societies and it creates confusion into them. That confusion causes many people to think they are better off without spirituality and fundamentalism and accepts secularism. But in reality at the heart of many people it becomes the contemporary conflicts. Though the societies is captured by secularism and the ideals of secularism are well intended, they are inadequate for life because our lives are not rational. So the explosion of spiritual interest swept through the societies, which causes people to return from secularism to spirituality. However, spirituality is under the attacks of science, reason and secularism. In the shift to this secularism, materialism and modernism, societies is again lean towards spirituality which guarantee towards the good, or lead to the benefit of the societies. However, we need to have a spirituality that has a proper guidance and direction to ensure they work towards wholeness and sweep through peoples lives and leading them to a peaceful life. When there is a rise in spirituality, there must be a corresponding rise in morality, social meaning and responsibility. Otherwise, we might remain under the pressure and threat of secularism.
