I. Objectives: The children will use tools to gather information and investigate materials using their magnifying glass Domain: Science Knowledge & Skills Domain Element: Scientific Skills & Method The children will collect, describe, and record information through discussions and drawings Domain: Science Knowledge & Skills Domain Element: Scientific Skills & Method The children will be actively engaged in a story telling experience Domain: Language Development Domain Element: Expressive Language II. Materials: Plastic Toy animals Paper plates (to hold paint) Paint (black) White construction paper (1 per child) Magnifying glass (1 per child) Picture of Moose Tracks III. Procedure: A. Motivation I will enter circle time and show the students what moose tracks look like I will ask if anyone has seen real moose tracks before and where B. Steps 1. The children will find their names at the table 2. They will then dip their animals feet into the paint and place it on the paper 3. The children will make many prints on their paper 4. The children will make multiple prints using the toy 5. I will then instruct them to use their magnifying glass to look at them all 6. They will explain to the person next to them what their favorite print looks like 7. The children will describe some of their tracks to the class 8. The children will put their papers in their cubby 9. I will instruct one child to collect all of the magnifying glasses 10. The children will then continue free play

IV. Conclusion: The children will describe their moose tracks to each other. V. Transition: The children will go back to their seats depending on what color they are wearing VI. Follow-Up: 1. Go on a moose hunt

2. Children can create moose habitat in sensory box 3. Children can create a moose headband from their handprints VII. Evaluation/Assessment: 1.
