Note- This project has been divided into three phases and a concluding phase PHASE ONE This project started with the question- what is a shop? The answer of it is as follows: A building or a part of building which sells services or goods. Consequently were asked the definitions of a market, supermarket, hypermarket, mall, megamall, and a departmental store. It was figured out that these all terms are interconnected with each other. The research part was to discover the stories of Iscon Mall, Golden Super Market, Reliance Market, Big Bazaar and Subhiksha. Other than Subhiksha, all other companies are currently settled in Rjakot and hence were to be researched. Later something more was added. A documentary about the worlds largest mall-The Dubai Mall was shown to students. The documentary revolved around how The Dubai Mall has been constructed. It was very interesting to know how hard it was to construct the worlds largest mall. It had a lot of learning outcomes. These stories revolving around business introduced me to the world of business. This was phase one of our project. Two more phases were yet to arrive.
PHASE TWO Then the concept of entrepreneurship was introduced. Entrepreneurship was introduced to the 8 th graders because this term is the key to enter in the commercial world as a new comer. A new comer is known as an entrepreneur (meaning: a risk taker). To be a successful entrepreneur includes the following things: To take calculated risks To have a leap of faith To be committed towards the work To trust the associates, partners and workers, To use appropriate business strategies To possess a lot of patience Never to give up This is the summary that I have grasped from two case sudies discussed amongst students: 1. Parakrambhai Jadeja- founder of Jyoti CNC in Rajkot 2. Chandubhai Virani- Founder of Balaji Namkeen in Rajkot These case studies were excerpts from a book authored by Rashmi Bansal- Take Me Home. This book is about 20 successful entrepreneurs across India from small towns which today are billionaires.
PHASE THREE This phase included a couple of guest visits of two people of my city to school. First guest was the owner and the founder of Chandan Super Market- Dipakbhai Kantaria He shared his experience to the young future entrepreneurs about how he started his first shop Chandan Provision Store in 1989. Later he started his first Chandan Super Market a few miles away from his old shop. After experiencing the success of his first super market, he converted his provision store also into a super market Entrance of none of the major retail market chains has affected my business, said Mr. Kantaria Another guest visit was a lecture by a lawyer- Narsibhai Davda- regarding the legal documentation required to start and run a shop in the city. First requirement is the registration of professional tax and its periodic payment. Second requirement is the registration and for professional tax and its regular payment. Third requirement is have a shop license to run a shop, which claims the owner and rules of the shop. If the shop sells food related products then the shop owner also needs to have a food license. Phase three and project ended here.
CONCLUDING PHASE: This phase includes my learning throughout the project. This project has widened my vision towards business, commerce and entrepreneurship. Earlier, I knew these terms were only concerned with profit and loss, spending and earning money. But now I have realized it is much more than that. The structure of these three terms revolves around: strategies, taking calculated risks, having faith, commitment, persistency, vision, and the undefeating spirit lying within wanting to conquer a dream. This project is supposed to be a lifetime memory. THANK YOU (My Infograph of this project is on the next page) Regards, Meet Kakkad
