Protein is broken down

inside the mouth.
The protein is brought down into the
esophagus
Between the esophagus and stomach there is
a valve called the sphincter. After the protein
enters the stomach the chemical breakdown
process begins.

While the chemical process of protein
digestion happens, hydrochloric acid, with
enzymes (pepsins), mix with the protein
molecules and break the bonds that hold the
molecules together, known as Hydrolysis.

After hydrolysis, the proteins are close
into becoming the essential amino
acids that the body needs.

After the digestion in the stomach is
complete, the almost done broken
down proteins move through the
duodenum into the small intestine.

Then, the pancreas finishes the protein breakdown by
releasing trypsin, an enzyme. After the last breakdown
is completed, the amino acids move through the wall
inside the small intestine into small capillaries.

After, the digested protein, or amino acids, go through
the liver before entering the bloodstream.

Finally, the amino acids travel throughout the entire
body, mostly to the necessary organs that need to be
replenished.
