1. Description of exemplar and how it demonstrates meeting this ACEI Standard and Elements.
During my field placement at Waikiki Elementary School, I created this lesson to go along with the concept of doubling that our classroom was learning in the current unit. I came up with the concept of a Doubling Book, based on prior experience with burnishing I had in an art class I once took. My lesson incorporated this art of burnishing in order to create a duplicate copy of an object drawn with pencil.
This exemplar meets the standard element by addressing learning theory. My lesson included the I do, we do, you do model. It was hands on for student learning.
2. Reflection on my professional growth in knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to the ACEI Standard and Element(s).
I gained the skill of preparation and disposition of communication. Preparing for this lesson required me to collaborate and communicate with my mentor for it to fall within the content of the unit. I also had to carefully prepare my lesson because I wanted the main focus to be on the doubling concept and not the art of creating a book. Students were engaged and amazed at the concept. I gained knowledge of my ability to plan and execute a successful lesson.
