Recent studies in Texas have found a correlation between physically fit students and
academic achievement. In particular, results from FITNESSGRAM tests and PASS & CATCH
have shown that students who are physically fit are more likely to do well on standardized tests.
Based on the evidence that students learn better when they are physically fit, they have provided
a list of activity breaks for use in and outside of the classroom. Activity breaks are classroom-
based physical activities that can incorporate subject content and allow students to be physically
active while learning.

This website gives all the background information on obesity. They state multiple facts
about obesity, then go into the short term and long term affects obesity has on a person.

This article goes over how social acceptance affects peoples scores. They talk about how
anxiety can affect the way they students feel about answering questions or the participation in
class by those students, and how all this can affect test scores.

This article is talks about how to keep kids active after school. It is for parents to read and have
an idea of things to do with their kids to keep them active and happy. It gives some facts on obesity and

not only does obesity affect a child's overall health, but it may also lead to poorer school
performance among teenage girls. Among boys, the link is less apparent.

This article covers everything that has to do with obesity in schools and how to prevent it. With

This article goes into detail of things to change and what can be done to help prevent obesity in
the school system.

Value: We use a study that was shown on kindergartens to prove that healthy kids test
better in math and reading than obese kids. Also this persists until 5

grade.
