BUTALEJA
Butaleja District is located in the central part of the Eastern
Region of Uganda. It has one county, seven sub-countes and
two town councils. The district has a populaton of 206,200
of which 58% has access to safe water.
The access rates vary from 46% in Nazimasa Sub-County to
75% in Busolwe Sub-County. The functonality rate in urban
and rural areas is 88% and 90% respectvely.
Butaleja District has 393 domestc water points (BH, SW, PS,

supply technology is the deep borehole.
The district has only one groundwater based pumped piped
water supply system at Busolwe Town Council serving ap-
proximately 7% of the populaton having access to safe wa-
ter while 93% is served by point water sources.
