Description: A mucoactive and surfactant-stimulatory antioxidant that inhibits the
release of arachidonic acid cell membrane phospholipids. Stimulates the
release of surfactant by pneumocytes type II. Acts as a scavenger of
hypochlorous and hydroxyl radicals. Blocks nitric oxide-stimulated
activation of guanylate cyclase (IC
