Thesis Statement:
This is an initial IEP meeting at Alicia Cortez in the Chino Hills School District. This
student is a twelve year old Hisanic male in the si!th grade. His rimary language is English.
This student has a seci"ic learning disa#ility.
The student learns #est visually and $inesthetically. %ath is an area o" strength "or this
student& according to the student's resent level o" er"ormance. The student is a#le to add and
su#tract multi(digit ro#lems& tell time& add "ractions with the same denominator and solve )
digit multilication and division ro#lems. The student tested at the middle *

grade level. The
students' reading has imroved and is at the +

grade level. The student is decoding regular and
irregular multisylla#ic words with ,-. accuracy. /eading comrehension remains an area o"
need "or this student. His arents are concerned with this area o" need. He also struggles with

grade level. The student's relationshi has imroved with his eers and
teacher.
The student is e!ected to meet the same standards o" curriculum as other students in the
classroom with accommodations such as: clari"y directions& "le!i#le time and setting& and 1uality
o" wor$ not 1uantity. The student will #e e!osed to the general education curriculum #ut will
receive modi"ied curriculum in: selling lists& class wor$& and homewor$ shortened. This
students will articiate in the CST #ut will receive accommodations. 2hen testing in English
3anguage Arts& the test 1uestions will #e read aloud& suervised #rea$s within a section and test
over more than one day "or single sitting test. The accommodations when testing in %ath will #e
test 1uestions read aloud& use o" maniulatives& suervised #rea$s within a section& and test over
more than one day.
