* Tested on XP & Win7 (but they should also work on Vista).
* A settings folder is created on first use (delete it to start fresh). * They are independent (you can delete, move or modify each without affecting t he other). A Short List of Included Features * Word: Spelling & Grammar, Tables, Hyperlinking, Images, WordArt, Passwords & Macros * Excel: Charts, Formulas, Passwords, Macros and Column Sorting No Optional Objects were included (such as MS Graph & Equation Editor). * Why: Stability (all portable Office versions freeze regularly when objects ar e loaded). * However, all doc & xls files (including all their objects) can be viewed. * Some simply can't be created or edited. * In addition, no help files were included. Solutions to Missing Objects * MS Graph - copy & paste an Excel chart into Word * Equation Editor - use the included MathType app --> It's also portable and tested on both XP & Win7; plus it's far more feature rich. --> Note: You can re-edit an equation by copying it back to MathType. Major Advantages Over Alternatives * They start up instantly and use very little memory. * They're compatible with all doc & xls files (the default format of Office 97- 2003). * They retain their settings across multiple PCs and OSes (at least XP & Win7). * They're feature rich when compared to shareware alternatives (ex. Spread32 & Abiword). --> Plus Word 97 has FAR more features than WordPad (included with MS OSes).
