Sliema which means peace in Maltese, is situated in the north-east of the

island. It is known for its beautiful rocky beaches and a promenade as well
as for its numerous restaurants and shops. In the past when it was still a
small village, Sliema was a place where many wealthy families had their
summer residences. Now this village has grown significantly and after
Valletta, Sliema is probably the most well-known city in Malta.

Most people visit Sliema to go shopping. Tower road and Bizazza street are
considered the best places to go shopping. This is a shopaholics paradise
from small boutiques for affluent men and women to big Department stores
such as NEXT and Mark’s and Spencer’s and shopping malls. From food to

shop or dine, parking especially at the weekends, is a nightmare. Residents
are always complaining that they cannot get home or that someone has
blocked their garage making it impossible to leave. The best time to go to
Sliema is during the week between 9am-3pm when it is not quite as busy.
Notwithstanding this, I wouldn’t live anywhere else.
