INTERVENTION TWO: NEW STUDENT TRANSFER SMALL GROUP

The second part of the intervention will include the Transfer Support Group. The group will be
introduced during the New Student Orientation. In order to participate in the group, a completed
Parental Consent Form is required. The Transfer Support Group will be held one period a week
and will run for six consecutive weeks. The group will provide students with additional
resources to ensure that they have a smooth transition into Steinmetz College Prep.
Overview of Transfer Support Group Intervention Plan
Session 1: Group introduction and discussion of terms
Session 2: Group and friendship skills
Session 3: Overview of Steinmetz College Prep- expectations and graduation requirements
Session 4: How to get involved at Steinmetz College Prep
Session 5: Individual goals
Session 6: Closing, reflection, and evaluation session
RESULTS: NEW STUDENT TRANSFER GROUP SMALL GROUP

Five out of nine students had an increase in attendance
Increase in students response of feeling safe at Steinmetz College Prep
Students are more knowledgeable about graduation requirements
Students are readily able to identify individual goals
Students are able to identify different groups and clubs at Steinmetz College Prep
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Implement a mandatory New Student Orientation small group at the beginning of each semester
Utilize the Senior Ambassadors to give a personalized tour for the new student and their family
Make sure that the New Student Support Group is executed on the same day and time each week
