ED 450 Set of Assignments

**Make sure you keep track of all time spent on any activity you do.**

Required:
1) Portfolio: Collect and keep all information for this course in a binder (or you can
do an e-portfolio) You must include: 1) all handouts and information provided,
2) all graded assignments, 3) you completed time sheet, etc.

Choice of Independent Assignments

1. PDF Resource files Pick 5 of the files, read through the information and write 1
page summary for each file to describe its content, use, and if the resource is helpful
or not.
2. Standards - Look at the educational standards from 3 different school systems (you
may use CNMI, Guam, Hawaii, or any state). Focus on one subject and one area
within the subject. Write at least 5 pages of a compare/contrast of the standards.
3. Common Core Pick one specific standard from the Common Core and write a 10
question multiple choice test to assess the information. http://www.corestandards.org/
4. Opinion Essay Why is assessment an important tool to help instruction?
5. Article Review Read these articles about assessment and write a review on each.

Web Resources (Part 1) Find up to 20 websites that are related to assessment and write a one
paragraph describing the website and how it relates to assessment. These sites are descriptive and
informative about assessment in general.
Web Resources (Part 2) Find up to 20 websites that have sample worksheet tests to create a
collection of resources.
Teach-Backs Pick one chapter out of the (blue) book and conduct a teach-back to explain the
chapter.
Reflection Pick another chapter from the book and write a 1 page reflection to summarize the
information.
Resources Collection of types of tests. Search the internet and other sources. Collect 10 tests
(use a variety from true/false, matching, multiple choice, short answer, and essay) Then write a 1
page summary of analysis of the tests to compare to the criteria for writing assessment from the
Chapter 6-12 power point (from 2/7/2014).
Key Terms Go through the books, select 20 terms related to Assessment, then write a few
sentences to explain the meaning of the terms. (for example: reliability, validity, standard
deviation, statistics, etc.)
