Reflection Questions

Make sure to include at least 15 terms from the Module 2 Terms you should know document.

1. Why are some materials good at conducting electricity and some are not? Some materials are good at conducting
electricity and some are not. This is because all of the good conductors of electricity are metals on the periodic table.
The elements that are metals are good conductors of electricity because of the amount of electrons that are on the top
of the element. These metals have a good electromagnetic current The materials that are not good at conducting
electricity are called insulators. This means that they dont allow electrons to easily flow from one atom to another. To
find out if a material or solid conducts electricity, you could create a circuit. This circuit would include a battery, a
little LED light (which is a semiconductor light source), and the material or solid that you are testing for conductivity.
Connecting these materials are going to be the wires. Now if the object or material has continuity, then the light bulb
will light up. This means that there is an electrical current of electricity going through the wires that is causing the
bulb to light up. In this last activity when I made the DC (Direct Current) motor. The magnetic wire that spun in
continuously was the anode or the armature part of the motor. This kind of shows an example of conductivity of the
copper wires because if you think of the DC motor as a circuit (the copper wires connected to a battery on one side
and the magnetic wire showing whether the copper wire is conductive or not. If the looped magnetic wire would spin
or have some type of movement, then the copper wire would be conductive.

2. How do electricians measure electricity values? Electricians measure electricity values by using a multimeter to
measure the resistance in ohms, the flow in amps (ampere), and the voltage in volts.
