No students scored below 70% therefore all students passed the assessment.
The graph above shows visual representation of all individual scores on the Post Unit Assessment. It is apparent that all students scored a 79% of above. There are not any outliers in the data because all students performed well. 0% 20% 40% 60% 80% 100% 120% Post Assessment Scores Post Assessment Score Post Assessment Score Distribution 100% 90-99% 80-89% 70-79% 60-69% 0-59% Comparison of Pre and Post Assessment
The graph above compares the performance of each student on the Pre Unit Assessment to his or her performance on the Post Unit Assessment. This graph also allows us to compare the groups performance from the Pre Assessment to their performance on the Post Assessment.
The graph above shows student growth from the Pre Assessment to the Post Assessment. 11 of the 12 students demonstrated significant growth and learning, however, one students score decreased in the Post Unit Assessment. Student H: Student who seemed to learn a great deal Student H scored 22% on the Pre Assessment but was able to improve a great deal throughout the unit. On the Pre Assessment, she was unable to draw hour and minute hands on an analog clock to tell time to the minute. When adding and subtracting hours and minutes she did not use prompts in the boxes to help her and therefore failed to add correctly. Student H was able to complete 1 of 4 word problems on the Pre Assessment and because frustrated with the task. As the unit continued, Student H became more confident in her knowledge of time and was eager to participate in class discussions. The student showed understanding of the unit content in most formative assessments. A few times throughout the unit the student struggled to remember a previously learned concept.. At soon as we reviewed the concept, she was successful. Student H scored 91% on the Post Unit Assessment. She demonstrated significant improvement and only struggled identifying time as minutes to or past the nearest hour.
Student K: Student who seemed to learn an average amount Student K seemed to learn an average amount throughout the unit. At the beginning of the unit, he demonstrated some prior knowledge of time and scored a 61% on the Pre Assessment. He did not know how many minutes were in an hour and could not covert hours and minutes. The student was unable to use the prompts to subtract hours and minutes. He was able to complete word problems but wrote his answer incorrectly. (ex. 3:00 instead of 3 hours). Throughout the unit, Student K improved and was actively engaged during the lesson. He participated and volunteered to provide answers in centers and whole group instruction. His mid unit exit slip demonstrates that he was still struggling to covert minutes to hours and minutes. Student K scored 94% on the Post Unit Assessment. H. The student only struggled to convert minutes and hours to minutes. His work throughout the semester demonstrates an increased understanding of time.
Student I: Student who continues to struggle Student I is one of two students who continues to struggled with the content presented in this unit. He scored a 50 % on the Pre Assessment and struggled with many of the concepts. He did not know how to draw hour and minute hands to tell time to the minute and could not complete questions asking to write the time as minutes past or to the nearest hour. He was able to use prompts to add and subtract time without regrouping but was not able to complete the word problems. The student began the unit with a very minimal prior knowledge of time. Throughout the unit he showed improvement and growth but still struggled with many of the concepts. He did not willingly volunteer responses to questions during class and needed to correct work often. His mid unit exit slip demonstrates understanding of adding and converting time . The Post Unit Assessment shows that he still struggled with some concepts such as telling time as minutes past or to the nearest hour. He also made errors in adding time and subtracting time. He developed a greater understanding of time however he did not improve to his full potential. Examples of student work demonstrating students learning are attached
