Romeo and Juliet Movie Cover Timed Writing

The cover of this movie version of William Shakespeares The Tragedy of Romeo and
Juliet is a peculiar one with evident details hinting to the surrounding theme of the play.
Simplicity, beauty, and visually enhancing details on the cover of the Shakespeares Globe
version Romeo and Juliet provide viewers with clues to the plots theme of true love.
The most notable aspect of the movie cover of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is the
simplicity. The upper-left hand corner of the cover contains the title, and the name William
Shakespeare, with the Shakespeares Globe badge to the right. On the completely black
background to the lower-right hand side are two figures. One is male, and the other female.
These are presumably the lovers of the play, Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is kissing Juliet on her
cheek, which , as there are few other distractions on the cover, can lead the viewer to assume that
a major theme of the story is true love.
Details which draw attention to the viewers are abundant despite the few elements shown
on the cover. The two lovers have their eyes closed as they draw in to kiss one another. This
may be a personal observation, but this detail of closed eyes is one of romance, an aspect of true
love. Because the two are both human, and race cannot be of any real objection to true love, the
fact that Romeo is black and Juliet is white is of no legitimate importance. It is apparent in
society however, that couples tend to be of a common skin tone. In the cover, they are of
different skin colors, which is most likely done on purpose by the production. Racial tension
serves as tension between the two families, and re-enforces the theme of true love, because the
two being together is inevitable regardless of imaginarily developed boundaries.
