Objectives.
In this lesson
1. Students will display their understanding of the plot of the novella
2. Complete a new character diagram
3. Use their character diagram to do a character analysis
4. Work in groups on their character analysis

At the end of this lesson students will be able to
1. Use their character diagramto write a five paragraph essay
2. Complete a plot diagram chart next class using their knowledge of the story
Assessment.
Student achievement and understanding will be checked
1. by a comprehension test
2. by the completion of a character diagram
3. with a five paragraph essay assignment
Instructional Approach.
1. Comprehension test
10 minutes
2. Recap chapters 6 and 7
5 minutes
3. Do character trait web on overhead
5 minutes
4. Talk about introductory paragraphs
5 minutes
5. Review 5 paragraph essay, assign new essay
Remainder of class
HW: Write an introductory paragraph for five paragraph essay

I took the time to form groups that I felt would work most effectively. I tried to prevent clashing
personalities from working together and put those on the lazier side with those who work hard
and efficiently in the hopes that they will balance eachother.
