I have received my education from the University of California, San Diego.

In addition to my
Bachelor degree in Pure Mathematics, I have also received a minor in Mathematics Education in
which dives into the analysis of one huge math problems and how to dissect and understand the
process of finding the various paths to the same solution. In a few months I will have completed
my single subject teaching credential in Mathematics as well as a Masters of Education in
Teaching and Learning in the Education Studies program at UCSD. I have an extensive
knowledge in both the field of mathematics, common core standards, educational theory,
practices, and research in which I have incorporated into my pedagogy.

Over the past few years, I have been exposed to innovative ideas for teaching common core from
multiple school sites that utilizes both the creative and applicable aspect of mathematics into the
real world. For example, in Geometry, I have created projects in which students analyze the
dimensions of a bakerys door, a vehicles door, and the final destinations door in order to apply
an optimized proportion for designing the cake. By incorporating outside knowledge of jobs that
may not seem to utilize mathematics, I am introducing various avenues of exploration for
students to realize that mathematics can be used anywhere.

Over the three years, I have been working in diverse classrooms as a tutor, teacher apprentice,
student teacher, and intern through San Diego County. I am finishing my full year of student
teaching/internship teaching Algebra and Geometry at Preuss School UCSD. I have included a
myriad of differentiated instructions, lessons, and projects that targets both the theoretical beauty
of mathematics as well as the applicable skillset of mathematics. Teaching at the Preuss School
has given me the necessary tools to support and engage my students from multicultural
classrooms, various learning styles, various proficiencies, and various challenges that gives me
the opportunity to adapt, alter, and differentiate my instructions for my students through the
collaborations of small group teacher teams. This allows me to use my students interest as the
anchor of my lessons so that my students are able to connect and engage with the content, not
just learn it.

The culmination of my teaching and learning experiences in these past years have given me a
combination of knowledge, experience, and commitment that would benefit both the students
and the schools in which I work. Thank you for your time and consideration.
