ADJECTIVES

DEFINITION
We use adjectives to describe a noun (person, place, thing)
Ex: a big dog
a beautiful girl
an interesting city

An Adjective has no plural form
Ex: There were three blacks dogs (WRONG)
there were three black dogs (RIGHT)
PLACE
We put most adjectives before a noun
Ex: We have got a new teacher
She is wearing an old dress or

We put adjectives after verb to be
Ex: That teacher is new
This house is old


EXERCISES

ENDING
There are many adjectives formed with ed and ing.
Ex: surprised-surprising, bored-boring, tired-tiring, etc.




-ed

We use adjectives with ed
ending to describe how we
feel about something or
someone.

Ex:
You must be tired after the
journey
The match was very bad
and I was bored


-ing

We use adjectoves with ing
ending to describe the thing or
person that produces the
feeling.

Ex:
It must have been a very
tiring journey
It was a boring and I fell
asleep

ORDER OF ADJECTIVES
Sometimes we want to use two or more adjectives before a
noun.
Adjectives which express opinion always go before other
adjectives. Other adjectives usually go in the order given
below:
