NICO, JESUS AND CALVIN

T. S. Mong
June 2014
Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named
Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to
Jesus by night and ...... (GOSPEL OF JOHN, Chap. 3)
NICO: Rabbi, by the things that you do you seem to me to be from God.
JESUS: Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is BORN ANEW, he cannot
see the kingdom of God.
NICO: How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second
time into his mother's womb and be born? Can he change his DNA? Can
he circumvent the inexorable Calvin's law of predestination?
JESUS: You are more than your mother's son, more than your DNA, and
certainly not under Calvin's law unless you choose to believe in it. Truly,
truly, I say to you, unless one is born of the Spirit, he cannot enter the
kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is
born of the Spirit is spirit. Don't be puzzled by what I said to you, 'You
must be born anew.' The wind blows where it wills and you hear the sound
of it, but you do not know where it comes from and where it goes; so is
every one who is born of the Spirit.
