Cook’s - First Grade News

Nov. 30 – Dec. 4, 2009
This week we’ll read A Quiz for Brent and Tomás Rivera. Please read with
and listen to your child read each day. As you listen to your child read, see if
he/she can retell the story. Have him or her tell you what happened at the
beginning, in the middle, and then at the end of the story. I’ll send the new
sight words home on Tuesday or Wednesday. Also, please help your child study
all of the sight words. P.S. If you can send something for the BAKE
SALE at the Winter Festival, please send it Tuesday morning.
(Cookies, Brownies, Cakes, Pies etc…)
NOTE: I have not sent home any fluency passages for your child to practice
at home. I have decided that I’ll continue practicing with them at school, in
their small groups, until after the DIBELS Reading Assessment. Then, I’ll
start sending home a Fluency folder and a timer for each child. I may wait
until January to start the home Fluency folders.
Please make plans to attend the Cowart Santa Shop/Winter Festival on
Tuesday, December 1st. Shopping will be from 5:00 – 8:30 PM. There will be
a Chili/Hot Dog dinner from 5-6:30 PM. If you or your child attend, then I
will give him/her a homework pass for that night’s homework.
