School demographics are continuously changing. The cultural diversity and
demographics change from year to year. The population at the school where I teach has become a very transient population. Students move numerous times throughout their elementary school year. Teachers must become adept at addressing the varied learning styles found in their classroom. Early intervention and placement in special education evaluation has become more streamlined. Technology facilitation and implementation can be a valuable tool to help teachers meet the diverse learning needs of their students. In order to successfully meet the needs of her students, a skilled teacher must be able to address the diverse learning needs of students. The population of English Language Learners has increased and the learning needs are new to many teachers. These students have language acquisition needs to overcome in addition to mastering content level material. Technology can be a vital tool in addressing these needs. The visual reinforcement of vocabulary that skill and drill games can provide can address content material and expose the student to new vocabulary while being visually reinforced by pictures and models. The special education population I teach has changed over the past few years. The students in my classroom now have multiple issues to deal with. Many of my students have learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, and are also served through the English Language Learners program. Technology has been an integral tool for differentiating instruction and lessons to meet the individual learning needs of my students.
