The book looking for Alaska by john green, has a compelling plot and quirky
characters. eading this brings you into the complicated !orld o" #iles $alter
%&udge' and the emotional roller coaster (laska )oung. This book is a great read.
This ama*ing no+el, !hich , !ould recommend to anybody. The main
characters are #iles, -hip, (laska, and Takumi. Each character has their o!n little
quirks and their o!n problems. This makes them reltable to me. , can make a good
connection to this no+el. The group o" main characters reminds me o" my group o"
riends, there.s al!ays one person in the group that !e "ollo!, there is al!ays one
!eak person, !here is al!ays someone !ho is moody, and then there is al!ays
someone !ho is just there and puts in their opinion !hen it is needed.
, /nd the !ay john green !rote this book !as a little con"using. There are no
chapters. 0rom the beginning o" the book to the middle o" the book, are headers
that ha+e a number !hich are ho! many days, and then it says 1be"ore2. 0or
e3ample, on o" the headers look like this 1/+e hundred and t!o days be"ore2. (nd
"rom hal"!ay to the end o" the book, it changes to a"ter. 0or e3ample 1se+enty t!o
days a"ter.2 4hen , /rst sa! this, , !as con"used. 5ut as , got closer to hal"!ay, ,
reali*ed it !as counting do!n the days until the major con6ict, and then counted
the days a"ter. ,t !as interesting, but a little con"using at /rst.
This is an e3tremely emotional story. #iles !as bullied back in his hometo!n,
and he didn.t ha+e any "riends. -hip li+es in a trailer park !ith his mom, and cant
a7ord +ery much. 4hen (laska !as 8 years old, she !atcher her mother die o" a
haemorrhage. -oming up to hall!ay in the book, (laska dies in a car crash, because
she !as drinking and she !as +ey upset about something. The rest o" the book is
about hoe chip and miles are upset and guilty about her death, because they could
ha+e stopped it.
, kno! this no+el de"enitly has a moral lesson, but , ha+n.t quite /gured it
out. , think that h!ta john green is trying to say is that this book isn.t about
preaching about problem teenagers, but it.s about relationships, and learning !ho
you are, and !ho you can be, and learning about ho! li"e is unpredictable9and !e
ha+e to be thank"ul "or !hat !e had, and !hat !e ha+e. , still ha+e more book to
read, but , think this is a bit o" !hat it might be.
