Library Media Specialist Job Description
NCS This description is a two page
detailed description of what is
expected of the media specialist.
Although, it is designed for a
Private Christian School, minor
modifications could be made for a
public school.
LEAD Academy This information about the
requirements for the library media
specialist is also thorough and
specific.

Library Media Center Aide Job Description
Williamson County School District This is a two page document that
is very detailed in explaining the
duties and requirements of the
librarian media centers aide.

Student or Volunteer Assistant Job Description
Seminole County This is a very simplistic description
for a volunteer assistant. It is
somewhat general in explanation
that allows the librarian leeway in
making decisions. For the
volunteers duties.
Island Idol This site explains volunteer duties
for a student volunteer as well as
other volunteering opportunities
that could be used in the library as
well. For example, being a student
tutor for other students. This is a
public library.
Bright School Library This is a very detailed and
explained expectation site for
volunteers. It is aimed toward
adults, but could be easily adapted
for students.

Challenged Materials Policy
MNPS Challenged Materials Metro provides a document that
explains what can be challenged
and provides forms to fill out and
send in to challenge materials.

Circulation Policy
Cameron College PREP This provides so much information
about what is expected in the
library. It provides circulation
expectations, behavior
expectations, etc. I really like this
as an example for the library, as
whole, policies.

Library Schedule
Carmel Middle School I like this example of scheduling
library use for teachers. It is
something very similar to what I
would like to have in place for my
library.
Broad Rock Middle School This is a very simple schedule and
is not very explanatory. This site
does however, provide links to
online catalogs.
Kennedy Middle School Library This particular web site uses
Weebly and provides a schedule.
It also provides a wealth of other
library related information.

Behavior
Dryden Middle/High School This site is very simple with
student expectations. It provides
information to what students
should bring to the library,
expectations of behavior, and
consequences.

Computer Acceptable Use Policy
Keene Middle School This site provides a well explained
and detailed acceptable use policy.
It also provides a link for both
student and parent to print and
sign that they understand the
policies of computer use.

Confidentiality of Patron Records
Prairie Pride This is a detailed explanation of
the rights of the student patron
and confidentiality.

Selection Policy
WAUSAU School District This is an eight page document
that explains in depth all aspects
of the selection policy of the
school district. Information is
provided on decision making
processes of weeding and feeding.
It is a great document to use, I
feel, because it covers so many
areas.
