Regulations under the Careless Use of Fire Ordinance

JOHN McEWElST, the Minister of Stfate for the Interior, an
, pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Careless Use
of Fire Ordinance 1936-1937, hereby make the following Regulations.

CARELESS USE OF FIRE REGULATIONS.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Careless Use of Fire Short title.

3. Any person who, without the written permission of the Minister
(proof w'hereof shall lie upon the person charged), sells, offers for
sale, distributes, or uses in {lie Territory, any stick or crude phosphorus
shall be guilty of an offence.
Penalty: Ten pounds.
4. (1.) The owner of any steam-engine shall install efficient spark
arrestors and sound ash-pans to catch all sparks and ashes, and shall
maintain the arrestors and pans in good repair.-
(2.) A person in charge of any steam engine shall not leave the
engine unless he has caused to be extinguished auy live coals which may
hav-e dropped from the engine, and taken sufficient measures to prevent
any live coals dropping from -the engine after his departure.
Penally: Twenty pounds.
