Overview

Art II serves the fulfillment of the fine art credit requirement to graduate. In this
course, students will apply various media, techniques, and processes in the
areas of art production and will develop their skills to analyze artworks. In Art I
students were taught the foundation skills to create art and rules of design. In
this course, students will be expected to follow these foundational skills through
in class production and independent production as well. Students will focus on
portraiture, still life, and conceptual designs through color media. This course is
a performance-based course. Evaluations will be calculated on their ability to
grow and perform art techniques and strategies to create works of art.
Goals (TN Standards for Visual Art)
The goal for students in this course will be to meet the standards outlined by the
state of Tennessee for Visual Art I.
Standard 1: Students will understand and apply media, techniques, and
processes.
Standard 2: Students will use knowledge of both structures and functions; which
address the foundational Elements & Principles of art.
Standard 3: Students will choose and evaluate a range of subject matter,
symbols, and ideas.
Standard 4: Students will understand the visual arts in relation to history and
cultures.
Standard 5: Students will reflect upon and assess the characteristics and merits
of their work and the work of others.
Standard 6: Students will make connections between visual arts and other
disciplines.
Requirements
All students are to adhere to the rules and regulations outlined by SCS school
system and Overton High School, as outlined in the Code of Conduct Policy. Cell
Phones are NOT permitted in class and will be confiscated and turned into
administration. No eating or drinking is permitted into the art room at any time.
Sketchbooks and pencil must be brought to class everyday.

* Pencil & Eraser
* 10 Black Sharpie Pens Fine Tip
* Metal Ruler

Important Dates
VARIOUS
Sketchbook assignments will be
collected every Friday however,
sketchbooks will be required daily.
Quarterly calendars will be available
via website and handout with
assignments noted.
*Assignments maybe added at various
times throughout the quarter.
WEEKLY REFLECTIONS
Reflection on Art Criticism, Notes &
Analysis will be recorded as bell work
throughout each week in sketchbooks
ABSENCES
Work will be permitted no later than
one week following the absence. It is
the students responsibility to check
the website and obtain information
regarding what was missed in class.
TUTORING
If a student needs additional help, a
conference or time maybe scheduled
in advance at teachers discretion.
