Meditation for Daily Life

T.S. Eliot wrote:

And the end of all our exploring
will be to arrive where we started
and know the place for the first time.

During the Adult Studies Fall Term, Grace United Methodist
Church will offer a Meditation Period on Wednesday evenings,
between 6:30 pm and 7:15 pm in various, pre-announced locations.

This Meditation Period is a non-denominational initiative to
encourage an individual to embark on a personal spiritual voyage
and exploration. Whatever the starting points for our very different
spiritual journeys, the common tasks we share are responding to an
inner call to cross our threshold and taking the action to leave the
comfort of home.

It is a call to radical living. We respond by saying yes to
Availability and Vulnerability.

Meditation involves availability to God expressed in a commitment
to being fully present with and attentive to God and then
responding by engaging in our community through hospitality,
intercession and mission.

The format for the Meditation Period will include periods of
reflective silence with both Scripture and meditation readings taken
from the Celtic Daily Prayer. An action component as a living
response to contemplative practice will also be introduced in each
period. Both Christopher Weaver and Phil Graham will provide
resources for those who wish to commit and fully participate.
Here am I, Lord,
Ive come to do Your will.
Here am I, Lord,
In Your presence Im still.
