Classroom Rules:
1. Be punctual and prepared for class.
2. No physical contact with others.
3. Respect the rights, opinions, and property of others.
4. Walk orderly and quietly through the halls.
5. Follow all routines and procedures.
Consequences:
Each teacher will keep a discipline log for each student in each of her classes.
Once a student receives 5 discipline log write-ups in a class, he/she will be
referred to the office for a detention.
*Attached is a copy of behaviors that will result in a discipline write-up.
Five office referrals during the school year (from class and/or resource teachers)
will result in the loss of the end of year trip.
Students who repeatedly violate the rules will be referred to the office for an
afterschool detention. Any serious offenses (bullying, fighting, threats, etc) will
result in an automatic referral to the office.
Rewards:
Students that do not receive five write-ups (an office referral) from any one
teacher in a nine week grading period will earn a reward at the end of the nine
week (trip to park, movie/popcorn, craft project, or outside time, etc)
Also, students that do not have five referrals to the office during the school year
will earn a REWARD TRIP at the end of the year.

Homework:
Students will have homework assignment sheets in the front of their binder.
These should be dated and completed daily. A homework board is located in the
classroom and students should fill in the assignment sheet as the teacher fills in
the homework board. Attention!!!!! The Homework Now website will NOT be
available this year. Three write-ups for a missing/incomplete homework in a nine
week grading period will result in an office referral. Every write-up after the three
in a nine week grading period will result in an automatic office referral. **These
write-ups are recorded in a Homework Log NOT the Discipline Log. **
Rewards- Students who have no homework write-ups in a classroom during the
nine week grading paper will receive a homework pass to use in the next grading
period.
Graded Work:
All graded work will be sent home as it is graded. Students should be bringing
home graded work several days a week. This work can be found in the Take-
Home folder that is placed at the back of your childs binder. You can also expect
a mid-nine weeks report to be sent home for each nine week period, in addition
to the report card at the end of the nine weeks. Both the mid-nine weeks report
and the report card need to be signed and returned to your childs homeroom
teacher within 3 days. Once the teacher checks for signature, teacher will initial
and return back to student.
Binders:

All students must keep an organized binder. Holes are punched in everything.
This should help students to avoid losing or misplacing papers. Binders should be
brought home each day. The students will receive help on how to properly label
and organize their binders on the first days of school. Periodic binder checks will
be done to ensure that students are using them properly.
*As the year progresses, please check with your child on his/her school supplies.
We have very limited extra supplies, in the event of emergencies, however they
tend to run out rather quickly.
Workbooks:
Students will be issued one workbook. If it is lost or misplaced, an additional book
will need to be purchased.
Attendance Policy:
Please take the time to familiarize yourself with Wise County Schools attendance
policy for your child. This can be located in the Student-Parent Handbook that
your child brings home on the first days of school.

Make-Up Assignment Sheets:
If your child misses a class at school, he/she WILL have work to make up. It is
his/her responsibility to get a Make-up Assignment sheet listing the make-up
work from each teacher. The sheets will be brightly assorted colors with the
homework written down on them. A due date will be listed beside the
assignments. Completion time will be given according to Wise County Schools
Policy (3 school days to receive full credit). Please ask your child to see this sheet.
After all work is completed and attached to the assignment sheet, a parent
signature is required. Please do not sign the make-up work sheet unless you
have seen the completed work and it is attached in the order listed to the make-
up work sheet.

The SOL tests for 6
th
grade are English 6, and Math 6. The SOL tests for 7
