Course Description:
All Agriculture Mechanics coursework meet the following State CTE Standards: B 1.0
Personal and group safety, B 2.0 Principles of basic woodworking. B3.0 Basic electricity and
wiring principles, B 4.0 Agricultural Plumbing Practices, B5.0 Cold metal processes, B6.0
Basic agricultural concrete practices, B 7.0 Principles of Oxy-fuel cutting and welding, B8.0
Electric arc welding processes, B 9.0 Advanced metallurgy principles, B10.0 Understanding
of small and compact engines, B 11.0 principles of Ag Machinery operation and use.

Grades will be determined as follows:
90- 100% earns the grade A
80- 89% earns the grade of B
70- 79% earns the grade C
60- 69% earns the grade D
50% and below earns the grade F

Grading Organization:
40% Shop Participation 20% Shop Projects
20% Class Work (written assignments) 5% FFA participation
5% SAE project (ex. mechanics, plant, animal, Ag. Placement)

In order to enrich student opportunities, students are required to participate in a minimum
of three Agriculture Department/ FFA activities per semester or one per 6- week grading
period.

Late Work:
Late work will NOT be accepted except on Pardon Days. On Pardon Days, students may turn in any
late work within the same semester. Work turned in on Pardon Day will 50% credit for the worth of
the assignment (ex. A homework assignment that earned a score of 20pts will be given 10 pts if it is
turned in on Pardon Day). Dates for Pardon day will be posted in the classroom.

Absent Work:
If you, the student, are absent, you are responsible for asking the teacher what assignments were
missed. Extra handouts are found in the filing box to the back.
All tests and quizzes: may only be made up within a week from the day of absence.

Materials:
Writing utensils, colored pencils, scissors, paste (glue)





Expectations:
BE RESPECTFUL to instructor, substitutes, classmates, supplies, etc.
BE SAFE. Follow all shop safety procedures and rules for project activities.
BE PREPARED! Complete all assignments and assigned readings on time. Bring materials to
class. Bring your 70 page notebook everyday to class.
PARTICIPATE! Ask questions, be a part of discussions and provide input.
All Dixon High School rules apply (dress code, cell phones, etc.) as well as the rules for Personal
Protective Equipment. Failure to wear appropriate shop clothing will result in sitting down and
a score of 0 for the day.
ATTENDANCE. Come to school and be on time. School attendance policy applies to all students.

Shop Donations: In order to provide the greatest variety of projects and opportunities in the
Ag Mechanics Courses, a nominal one time donation of $20.00 is requested. Most of the
projects completed in the shop can be taken home and enjoyed. Alternatives to cash are
acceptable upon approval with the instructor. Please contact Ms. Simons f you would prefer
to bring in some supplies that would benefit the course instead of the donation.
