I. Introduction
1. General
IP SDSL‐16M system is a Ethernet LAN (Local Area Network) transmission system by using
SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line) technology through existing telephone line. This
system is the most efficient adjusting service according to usage of demand‐dense subscriber, In‐
Building, SOHO, etc. IP SDSL‐16M system is a internet/intranet service system, available for high
speed data service, which can transmit 2.3 Mbps up to 2.7km (0.4 mm base) through Copper
twisted pair by employing SDSL technology.
IP SDSL‐16M system is easy to extend subscriber due to 19″ rack mounted structure and easy to
build a system according to the number of subscriber due to excellent space utilization by
compact type, to be easy to install by applying Plug & Play structure and to be easy to install and
operate existing Ethernet LAN. IP SDSL‐16M system support internal high speed switching
function by high speed LAN Switch built‐in system and support Up Link Port and Cascade
Port/Management port supporting 16 SDSL Ports and one 10/100 Mbps.
Up Link Port above‐mentioned support Auto‐Negotiation

II. Description of the System
1. General
IP SDSL‐16M system is a SDSL LAN Switching system transmitting a LAN signal and switching LAN
DATA by use of existing telephone subscriber line ( 2 line ) without extra repeater.
SDSL‐16M system is constituted of subscriber’s equipment and Hub of assembled Pizza Box Type.
One Hub supports subscribers of maximum 16 lines and 10/100 Base‐T Up Link 1 Port.
SDSL 16 UNIT mounted to the assembled type equipment of IP SDSL‐16M system is operated in the
CO(Central Office) mode, subscriber equipment is used as RT(Remote Terminal) mode, subscriber
equipment as10 Base‐T is connected by use of subscriber equipment ( PC, Hub, etc.) and UTP Straight
cable and assembled type equipment as 10/100 Base‐T, is connected to network equipment by use of
UTP straight cable through Up Link Port.
IP SDSL‐16M system is 256kbps ~2.3Mbps speed, can be adjusted according to usage, in case of
assembled type equipment, power supply is AC 220V by use of power supplier built‐in equipment
according to installation condition.

III. Installation and Operation
1. Installation
1.1 Introduction
IP SDSL‐16M system installation shall be described in this chapter.
1.2 Connecting power
After insert shelf to rack (19” standard), connect AC power 220V on the back of shelf
Caution : To use this equipment safely and to get assurance of maximum efficiency must use ground
connected power.
1.3 Connection of network equipment
IP SDSL‐16M system has RJ‐45 connector available to connect center equipment (equal to switching
HUB) at front panel. This connector is connected with center equipment by 10/100BaseT UTP
signal. Below figure is a map of connecting with switching HUB.

2. Operation
1) Instruction
SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is a protocol to support the long distance user.
Management information about the network status can be logically inspected and controlled by
SNMP. Especially this standard, like as relative standard describing MIB and SMI, supports the
dedicated information and has the system management easier.
2) Function
a. Local and remote access (telnet, console) setup
Set up the local serial console port as below
Change to null modem in the use of communication emulation
Emulation : vt100
Bit per second : 115200bps
Data bit : 8 bit
Parity bit : NOT
Stop bit : 1
If connected after changing, the software requires the password (default password : aviv).

IV. Caution in operation
Caution in use of SDSL‐16M
‐ This equipment is always produced, been setting to 2.3Mbps in the factory
‐ First, to turn on power supply of PWR unit after connecting AC power supply
‐ The ground of power supply must be good
‐ First, confirm the correct operation of SYNC LED, when DSL line is connected with modem in the
home and office. If SYNC LED is not On status after 36 seconds, that means DSL line is poor,
therefore check DSL line again or use other line
‐ If LAN cable is connected correctly to network equipment, LINK LED is On status. If LED is not
On status after confirming, confirm again whether cable is correct or not.
