Running head: COMPLETED SERVICE LEARNING PROJECT 1

Your name:

Discussion of completed service learning project:
The presentation was shown to novice healthcare professionals in an unofficial setting and then it
was discussed and evaluated. The novice healthcare professionals agreed with the arguments
supported by Keogh, Kilding, Pidgeon, Ashley & Gillis (2009).

Evaluation of the selected intervention:
The novice healthcare professionals noted that the presentation was quite detailed and well
developed. They also noted that the program seemed efficient. It is obvious to them that elderly
should get adequate exercise and training can be a good option for them. Nonetheless, they also
added that this program required significant time to implement and may need some investment.
WE started talking about the role of a nurse in this process and I explained that nurses will play a
key role as they will encourage elderly to participate and support them as well as hold some
classes.

Discuss how this project contributed to professional collaboration & community engagement:
I believe my presentation will contribute to professional collaboration and community engagement
if I present it in a number of local nursing homes as well as some non-for-profit organizations. I
believe people understand the need in starting a change and they need a push. My presentation
may be the incentive that will encourage nursing homes staff to respond to the problem of the fall
in elderly instead of addressing its consequences.
