Recrystallization is a process of
dissolving the solid to be crystallized in a
hot solvent or solvent mixture and then
cooling the solution slowly.
What is Recrystallization?

1.)

2.)
Answer:
Activated charcoal is also known as decolorizing carbon.
It is used to remove the colored impurities from the
sample.
Activated charcoal provides a high surface area to
absorb colored impurities.
Activated charcoal is added during a recrystallization to
bind high molecular weight, colored impurites.
Contaminants are also removed more effectively if they
are in contact with the activated charcoal for a longer
time, so flow rate through the charcoal affects filtration.
4.) What is the role of activated
charcoal in the experiment?
Acetanilide is an odorless solid chemical of leaf or
flake-like appearance. It is also known as N-
phenylacetamide, acetanil, or acetanilid, and was
formerly known by the trade name antifebrin.

Answer:
The Theoretical Melting point of Acetanilide is 113
115 C (235239 F)

5.) What is the theoretical melting
point of Acetanilide?
