No checking e-mail, surfing the web, doing work for
other classes, etc.
Do not talk while I am demonstrating.
3 Phases of class time:
Demonstration
Listen, Watch, Learn give me 100% of your attention to
learn a new skill or operation
Portfolio Work
Use your newly acquired skills to create your own digital
artwork or design to add to your portfolio
Content Collection
To apply what you learn, you will need content. You will
read, write, interview, and research content regularly.
Maximize class time.
When you have finished your work and turned it in,
then you could do any of the following:
1. revise and edit your writing
2. explore software on your own
2. help another student
3. Clean and organize files
4. Export versions of designs (jpg, pdf)
Quiet talking is acceptable while the class is working
on projects. Loud talking is never acceptable.

Everyone works at their own pace. There
should not be any down time. You should be
productive every minute you are in class.
Be original.
You have the opportunity, in fact, an invitation to be
creative USE IT! You dont get the opportunity
often, dont waste it!
Copying of work will absolutely not be tolerated.
Copying work is illegal and makes taking this class
pointless. Copyright laws will be discussed in class
and must be followed.
Respect the equipment.
Follow the TISD Acceptable Use Policy at all
times.
You are responsible for any equipment checked
out in your name. Damages or loss are your
financial obligation.
Do not download games, instant messaging, etc.
These slow down the computer systems and
distract you from your work.
Food and drink are not allowed in the classroom.
Late work is not acceptable.
One of the things you must learn is how to
meet a deadline. Most work is long-term and
due dates are announced well ahead of time.
Consider that if it were your job to produce a
graphic design for an advertising company,
and you failed to produce it on time. The
company would miss the deadline; you would
almost certainly be fired.
Save Often.
Save with purpose.
Be aware of where you are putting your work.
File management will be graded. We will take a
day every so often to clean up and organize your
files.
Most of the time, you have up to 6 versions of the
same design. This is part of the packaging
process and your attention to the location of
files is important.
General Expectations
Behave responsibly, politely, and professionally
both in and out of the classroom.
Take this class seriously. Use it as an opportunity
to learn as much as you possibly can.
Have fun. Be creative. Stretch your imagination.
Explore your abilities. Ask questions. Try to figure
things out. See what you can do.
Please never touch the screen of your computer.
When you leave, straighten up your work area,
including returning chairs to appropriate
positions.
