INTRODUCTION
The buoyant force on several objects is measured by weighing
the water displaced by the object as it is submerged. The
buoyant force is also determined by measuring the difference
between the object's weight in air and its apparent weight in
water. Some of the objects have the same density, some have
the same volume, and some have the same mass. The density
of each object is measured and the dependence of the buoyant
force on density, mass, and volume is explored.
OBJECTIVES
At end of experiment, students will be able to:
1.Write the general formula for pressure.
2.Determine fluid buoyancy from Arcimedes Pricinple.
3.Know the relationship between the buoyant force on an object
and the weight of liquid displaced.
MAIN IDEA:
There are 3 types of presure i.e fluid buoyancy, fluids in n
still condition and fluids in moving condition. In this
experiment,we will examine the fluid buoyancy is still
condition.
APPRATUS:
-Retort stand
-Spring Balance
-3 set of blocks (Wood,Metal, and Plastic)
-Beaker 200 ml and 100 ml
-Eureka Beaker
-String
ANALYSIS:
From the experiment ,we found that the result of weight of
water displaced are equal to the buoyant force. At the same
time, the actual weight of object reduced when we put the
object into the beaker are filled up with water. This is because if
the object is not accelerating, the upward force acting on it must
equal the downward force of gravity on it. When the object is in
the air, the spring scale provides all of the upward force. When
the block is submerged in the water, the water provides part of
the upward force ,so the spring scale reading is decreased by
an amount equal to the buoyant force.
ERROR ANALYSIS:
When we carry out the experiment ,we must becareful the
systematic error and parallax error. As an example ,before we
using the electrical balance we must make sure didnt have any
systematic error with the electrical balance.Beside that ,before
we want take the result at the spring balance ,we must put a
piece of paper behind the spring balance to avoid the parallax
error. We also can repeat the experiment to reduce the error.
PROCEDURE:
1.Hang a spring balance from the arm of retort stand.
2.Tie the wooden block with a string and hang it to the spring
balance.
3.Record T1,the spring balance reading,in TABLE 1.
4.Fill the 200 ml beaker with water.
5.Then,move the arm of the retort stand with the wooden block
still tied to it, slowly downwards.
6.Let the wooden block rise/sink in teh water.
7.Water will spill out of the 200 ml beaker and into the 100 ml
beaker.
8.Repeat the weigf the wooden block in water,T 2 in TABLE 1
9.Repeat the experiment for the metal and plastic blocks.

DISCUSSION:
If the metal block just desribed was suspended from a
spring scale, what happen to the reading of that scale
when the block is submerged in the water.
Solution: If the metal block is not accelerating, the upward force
acting on it must equal the downward force of gravity on it. When
the block is in the air, the spring scale provides all of the upward
force. When the block is submerged in the water, the water provides
part of the upward force ,so the spring scale reading is decreased by
an amount equal to the buoyant force.
QUESTION:
1. based on experiment , which feels the greatest buoyant
force?explain
From the experiment ,we found that the relationship between
the weight of water displaced are equal to the buoyant force on
each is the same because of identical pressure environments
and equal water displacement. The difference in behavior
comes from the comparison of that buoyant force with the
weight of the object.
CONCLUSION :
After from the experiment ,we able to write and use the general formula of
presure. We also known the weight of water displaced is equal to the
buoyant force. We also known if the metal block is not accelerating, the
upward force acting on it must equal the downward force of gravity on it.
When the block is in the air, the spring scale provides all of the upward
force. When the block is submerged in the water, the water provides part
of the upward force ,so the spring scale reading is decreased by an
amount equal to the buoyant force.
