Think about what you are learning and
practicing in class. Now write a story
demonstrating what youve learned. You
might include:
- temporal words
- said words
- correct punctuation
- interesting words
- a conclusion
- thoughts & feelings
- personification & onomatopoeia
- your spelling words
Report:

Choose a topic that you are
interested in learning about. Write
a report in your own words showing
what you learned. Include
nonfiction text features like:
headings, bold-faced vocabulary
words, diagrams, pictures,
captions, fact boxes, etc.
Book Worm:

Read! Read! Read!

Instead of 15-20 minutes of nightly
reading, read for 30 minutes or more
instead. Record your minutes:

Current Events:

Make your own newspaper explaining
what the current events are. You can
make it on the computer or by hand. You

www.puzzlemaker.com) to create a
cross word for this weeks
vocabulary words and meanings.

Print the puzzle. Wait a few days
and now solve your puzzle.

practice each day. Examples:

Reading Comprehension Dice:

1.Visualizing:
Tell what you picture in your head. If you are reading a picture book, tell how your minds picture was similar or
different than the illustrators picture. Pay attention to which descriptive words and verbs that the author used that
helped paint a picture in your mind.

2. Connections:
What does this make you think of?
What does it remind you of?

3. Predictions/Questioning:
What do you think will happen next?
What questions do you have about what is happening or what you are learning?

4. Story Elements:
Who are the important characters?
Are the characters changing throughout the story?
Where and when is the story taking place?
What is the problem in the story?
Has the problem been solved yet?
What is the main idea of the story?

5. Inferences:
Why do you think the character did that?
Why did that happen?
Is there a lesson to be learned?
