CMS Physical Education Expectations (Worth 10 Points Due: September 12

th
)

Our mission is to help our students achieve an active and healthy lifestyle now and beyond school. We do this
by encouraging and motivating our students to become more physically active by offering a wide variety of
activities throughout the school year that they can do for a lifetime.
This sheet can be found online as well as study guides, make-up sheets, schedules, updates, etc.

The students overall grade for physical education will be a combination of the following areas:

20% Quizzes/Test Written test or quiz will be given to students at the end of a unit. A review of the test
materials will be conducted prior to taking the test. LISTEN
20% Performance/Skills Test FitnessGram testing, as well as skill tests for units.
60% Participation 5 Daily Participation Points. These points can be lost for the following reasons (see below).

Participation points are lost by:
1. NOT dressing for class in proper clothing (No tank tops or cut off shirts). This includes shirt/shorts and
athletic shoes.

Time: Zero for the day.

Time: Zero for the day, lunch detention, and a phone call home.

Time: Zero for the day, and office referral.
2. Refusal to participate or poor participation. Not following directions, class rules, or poor and dangerous
behavior.

Time: Warning.

Time: Sit Out/Lunch Detention.

Time: Office Referral/Call to Parent.
Note: Point deductions will vary -1 to -5 points depending on the severity of the situation.

3. Tardiness. Be on time to class. Being late is not an option. If a student is up to 5 minutes late for a class it will
be considered a tardy, after 5 minutes it will be marked as an absence unless student has a pass excusing them.
-Deductions for each tardy is as follows:

Tardy: 1 point total deduction.

Tardy: 2 points total deduction.

Tardy: 3 points total deduction and lunch detention.

Tardy: Student will receive a zero and an office referral.

Attendance Policy: The class involves a high level of student participation. Therefore, students are expected to
attend class meetings in order to obtain the full benefits of this learning experience. Daily attendance will be
taken. If a student is absent from class, the student will receive a zero for that day.
However, if a student has been absent from class, or forgot their gym clothes they will be able to turn in a make-
up sheet (can be found in the gym or online) to earn back participation points for that day. To receive full credit,
the sheet must be turned in 10 school days (2 weeks) from that day. Each week after the sheet will be worth one
point less for that day.
Medical excuse from class:
If a student has a doctors note they will be excused from participation until the school receives a doctors note
clearing them to participate and/or said return date on original doctors note. We will accept a parents note one
time for each insist but must have a doctors if student needs to miss for an extended amount of time.
