Intro: What do you like to read? What do
you enjoy reading outside of school and
why do you enjoy it?
Vocabulary: As a class, we will work on
building our vocabulary to help improve
daily reading as well as vocabulary for
future texts.
Non-fiction: Non-fiction texts can be very
difficult to read and take certain skills.
How should we read a textbook? How is
newspaper reading or reading on tests
(OGT, SAT, ACT) different than other
types of reading?
Comprehension: How can we better
understand what we are reading? What

should we do when we dont
understand?
Reading Strategies: What do goo
readers do? Where do go when they
dont know something? How do they
become better readers?
Fluency: As a class we will work on
reading aloud with confidence. We will
act out different readings as well as
record readings for students in
elementary or middle schools.
Enjoyment: As a class we will read
novels just to enjoy them and build our
knowledge of authors and texts.
