2 Lock installation

2.1 Preparing the outside Escutcheon

(Numbers in parentheses refer to figure 2.1).

1. Insert the mail spindle (3 and 4) into the spring arm (1).

Important:
Before inserting the two spindles, check that the threads on the spindles are
inserted with grease.

NOTE
The spring arm is faced opposite to the way of the handle, when depressed
down
2. Insert the spring arm (1) threaded on the spindle (4), and fix the spindle into the
handle, (handle must be set in horizontal position).
3. Attach the spring (2) to the spring arm and the pin on handle in the escutcheon.
4. Screw the female spindle (3) into the male spindle (4), and then reverse it to 1 of full turns. If
spindle has a hole for the pin instead of plastic ring, adjust spindle so that the hole is in vertical
position.

2.2 Installing the lock

(Numbers in parentheses refer to figure 2.2).

If Hydra Cylinder is in use:
Thread the Security Clip (24) onto the lock case from bottom side, at 45 and
press it upwards so the grove is aligned to the cable cover mounting screw.

1. Position the lock case (9) into the door edge and fasten it with two screws
(11).
Note: Position the cable in the door before inserting the lock case.

2. Prepare the outside escutcheon (5) for installation as described in chapter 2.1.

3. Position the outside escutcheon onto the door, inserting the handle spindle (7
and 8) into the lock case.

4. The pin/ring (16) is holding the handle spindle in correct position.
Push the pin into the hole through the female spindle. If plastic ring is used,
push the plastic ring onto the female spindle, making sure that the ring fits
into its groove.
If the hole is too far into the lock case, pull the spindle. If this does not work,
go back to step 2 and readjust the spindle.

5. Insert the thumb turn spindle (4) through the lock case until it stops against
the outside escutcheon.

6. Prepare the inside escutcheon (3) as follow:
Set the thumb turn in its vertical position, while the dead bolt is retracted.

7. Before mounting the inside escutcheon on door, make sure that:
- the spindles (8 and 4) fit correctly in their positions.
- the cable to the battery is placed correctly through the notch on top of the
escutcheon.
Leave the connectors accessible on the inside of the door.

8. Connect the cable (17) from the lockcase to the LCU (23).
If this is a Classic PIN lock, also make sure the cable from the keyboard (28)
is connected properly to the LCU (23). See Appendix D (Classic PIN lock)
for more details.

Important: Connectors should mount easily, avoid using force. If condensation can
occur (as is likely in hallow steel doors), the contacts should be filled with silicone
grease.

9. Fasten the outside and inside escutcheon (5 and 3) with four escutcheon
screws (15) as shown, but do not tighten them at this point. For Classic PIN
Lock, remember screws (26) and fixing plate (27).

Important: The protruding parts must fit correctly. Any bending or misalignment
may cause malfunction.
4822102

18/03/2009 Page 11 of 32 Classic ANSI

Important: For lock without cylinder, never close door before lock is programmed
and working with card operation.

If your lock is equipped with standard cylinder (6), proceed to step 11.
Hydra cylinder (25) is used along with Clips (24)

10. Prepare the cylinder as follow:
Insert an operational key and turn the
cylinder so the cylinder arm is
in 6 oclock position.
Then insert the cylinder into the lock
case and position the cylinder so
it is flush to the outside escutcheon.
Fix the cylinder in place with the fixing
screw tool kit as follow:

a) Use the L shaped Allen key to lock the
headless fixing screw to the T shaped tool as
illustration in the box shows.
b) Using the T tool, screw the fixing screw in
place as shown to fix the cylinder in place. When tighten the screw, put
pressure on the Allen wrench, not the T-handle, to avoid over-tightening.
Make sure that the cylinder fixing screw is tightened in the cylinder.
c) Release the T tool from fixing screw by holding the T tool rigid
while turning the Allen key counter clockwise until the toll is released, then
unscrews the tool.

If your lock is equipped with Hydra cylinder (25) proceed to step 12.

11. Install the cylinder (6) and fasten it with the screw (10) using an Allen wrench.
When using a standard cylinder with ADB lock case, use the optional short screw
as described in Appendix A (VingCard US ANSI ADB).

12. Important: Check all functions for smooth operation before final tightening of
the escutcheon screws. Throw the Dead bolt with thumb turn and retract the latch
and Dead bolt by depressing the inside handle. When installing an ADB lock case
the deadbolt is thrown by pushing the trigger, and retracted by depressing the
inside handle.

13. Install the battery pack (2 (9V) or 21 (4,5V)) by connecting the battery cable (18)
from the Lock Control Unit (23) to the battery.
Note: Yellow light should flash once after battery is connected.

If your lock is equipped with 4,5V electronics (3 batteries) proceed to step 15.

4822102

18/03/2009 Page 12 of 32 Classic ANSI

14. The battery package has to be inserted with the battery contact facing towards the
door, so the contacts are close towards the door blade (Only 9V / 6 batteries).

15. If battery cover is in metal, the battery cup (22) has to be threaded upon the
battery before connecting the Battery cable (Only for 9V / 6 batteries).

16. Fasten the outside front (12) with outside front screws (13). Make sure that the
anti-friction latch comes all way out.

17. Tighten the four Escutcheon screws (15), ensuring the inside and outside
escutcheons are aligned to each other.
If this is a Classic PIN lock, also remember the two additional screws (26) for PIN
Locks keyboard (27). See Appendix D (Classic PIN Lock) for more details.

18. Install the battery cover (1) by using the lid opener.

19. After completing the installation as described above, check the installation by
performing the control procedure as described in chapter 3.

For reliable operation
Use cleaning cards at scheduled intervals
No parts should be lubricated, except spindle threads
When cleaning escutcheons, use soft moist cloth without detergents.

Thumb turn
The thumb turn must throw and retract the dead bolt freely.
Note. When installing ADB lock case the thumb turn can not retract dead bolt.
The trigger will throw the dead bolt if depressed.
Cylinder.
When using an emergency key (EMK), latch and dead bolt must freely
operate.
Latch and dead bolt.
When the dead bolt has been retracted by the thumb turn and the inside handle
is fully depressed, dead bolt and latch should be flush with the lock case cover
plate.
Electronics.
Note: If there is no cylinder available, its important to check that the electronics
works before closing the door. Upload the door with program and data, then
test opening with a card when the door is open.

3.3 Security function check
Dead latch function.
When depressing the locking latch, the latch should be blocked. Make sure the
latch is not snagged by the strike when the door is closed.
Panic release function.
When the door is closed and the dead bolt is thrown, depress the inside handle.
The dead bolt and the latch must be retracted.
